Alastair has a background in finance, risk management and governance.

After a successful banking career in London and Tokyo, he returned to New Zealand in 1997, and established the wine exporting business ‘Matahiwi Estate’.

Since then he has also been involved in the governance of small and large businesses, as well as nonprofit organisations.

In the past parliament he was a member of the Transport and Industrial Relations select committee and the Finance and Expenditure select committee. He was Deputy Chair of both committees at different times. In the 52nd Parliament he is a member of the Transport and Infrastructure select committee and Spokesperson for Customs and Associate Spokesperson for Regional Economic Development.

Alastair has three children and shares a busy household with his partner Robyn Noble-Campbell and her three children.

The children range in age from 16 to 24.

Other interests include skiing, jogging and cooking.
